UK Status Resident. Widespread and common throughout the British Isles, but more common in the north. Montgomeryshire Status Infrequently recorded. Wingspan : M & F, 9-10mm. Confusion species Many species of Parornix are very similar, care should be taken with identification. |
Flight time & Voltinity
(Bivoltine)  Habitat Woodland, moorland and orchards. Foodplant Rowan, whitebeam and apple. Lifestage data Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva forms a broad gallery which develops into a blotch which enlarges as feeding continues. Pupates in a white cocoon under a turned down leaf edge or in litter. |
